Government Debt Finance Services
Our U.S. Bank Relationship Managers specialize in the credit needs of the municipal customer including:
  • On balance sheet activity (Bank-Qualified and Non Bank-Qualified loans, leases etc.)
  • Off balance sheet activity (letters of credit and liquidity lines of credit)
Larger more sophisticated customers may use U.S. Bank credit rating to support debt issuance for credit enhancement or for liquidity purposes on a bond issue.
Typical needs of municipalities provided include:
  • Interim financing for construction projects - utility projects, often water, sewer or telecommunications related, for an assessment district, or for infrastructure improvements
  • Equipment financing - buildings, police cars, fire trucks, school buses, technology, etc.
  • Temporary cash flow financing - when our customers experience a timing differential between expenses and the receipt of taxes or revenues
  • Term Financing - can be provided for up to 20 years for general obligation, or for assessment bonds such as local improvement or special improvement districts
  • Pooled Financing Programs - a grouping of similar obligations and issuers to achieve an interest rate and cost of issuance savings not possible with an individual bond issue
